Beyond Cookie-Cutter Care

Many parents tell us they’ve tried therapy before and felt lost: “We didn’t know what the plan was. We weren’t sure if progress was happening.” At Stay Mindful Therapy, we believe families deserve more than a “wait and see” approach. That’s why our child therapy treatment plans are collaborative, personalized, and built with parents from the very start.

Starting with Parents

Our new intake process dedicates the first four sessions to parents and caregivers — three with Renee and one with your child’s ongoing therapist. This gives us time to:

  • Use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help parents release guilt, fear, or anger that might get in the way of the process.

  • Learn about your child’s unique strengths, challenges, and needs.

  • Co-create a clear, realistic plan that supports both your child and your parenting journey.

What Makes Our Plans Different?

  • Strengths-Based: We highlight what your child does well, not just what’s hard.

  • Attachment-Focused: We see you as part of the healing team, not separate from it.

  • Motivational Interviewing: We explore your hopes, values, and goals, so the plan feels authentic and achievable.

  • Whole-Family Perspective: If needed, we include parent or caregiver support alongside your child’s goals.

This means your treatment plan isn’t written about you — it’s written with you.

What a Collaborative Plan Might Include

  • Goals for your child (e.g., reducing anxiety, building social confidence, managing ADHD symptoms)

  • Parenting support strategies (e.g., emotion coaching, co-regulation, attachment-building)

  • Tools for home and school (visual schedules, calming strategies, communication techniques)

  • Timeline for check-ins and adjustments so you always know where things stand

Back-to-School Wisdom: Planning at Home, Too

Just like in therapy, children thrive when there’s a clear, collaborative plan at home. Here are some easy ways to put that into practice during back-to-school transitions:

  • Morning Map: Create a simple visual checklist for your child to follow before school.

  • Homework Huddle: Decide together when and where homework happens, and stick to it.

  • Family Meeting: Set aside 10 minutes once a week to celebrate wins, share struggles, and adjust routines.

  • Parent Check-In: Notice how you’re doing, too — your calm presence is part of the plan.

The Bigger Picture

When families know the “why” and “how” behind therapy, they feel empowered, not confused. Our collaborative treatment plans ensure you never feel in the dark — and your child gets the benefit of a whole team working together.
