Build Everyday Resilience

Your brain’s been running on overdrive.

Do you find yourself stressed even when nothing’s wrong, lying awake with a brain that won’t switch off, or pushing through your days on empty no matter how much you try to rest?

Living like this is exhausting. Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time information about what it’s doing, creating an opportunity to notice, adapt, and respond differently.

At Stay Mindful Therapy, we give your nervous system a chance to find a little more ease.

Neurofeedback gives your brain another way to practice settling, focusing, and adapting to what life asks of you.

What Is Neurofeedback, & How Does It Work?

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is a gentle, noninvasive wellness service that gives your brain information about its own activity. There’s nothing to talk through and nothing to figure out. You simply relax and listen to music while small sensors on your scalp and ears monitor changes in brain activity.

When the system notices certain changes in activity, the music briefly pauses. That tiny interruption gives your brain information about what it’s doing in the moment, a little like noticing yourself start to lose your balance and naturally adjusting.

Over a series of sessions, your brain gets repeated opportunities to respond to that feedback. People may notice changes in areas such as stress, focus, sleep, emotional balance, and overall well-being, although everyone’s experience is different.

We are working hard to keep pricing some of the lowest in town.

Individual Session: $95
5-Session Training Plan: $400 ($80/session)
10-Session Training Plan: $750 ($75/session)
20-Session Training Plan: $1,400 ($70/session)

Therapy often asks you to actively do something: talk through what’s hard, learn a skill, explore a pattern, or try a new way of responding. Neurofeedback works differently. You don’t have to consciously change anything. Your brain receives information about its own activity while you relax and listen to music.

Neurofeedback is offered as a wellness service rather than psychotherapy and does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.

Neurofeedback can stand on its own or be used alongside therapy as part of your personalized Care Map. While therapy gives you space to work with your experiences, relationships, patterns, and goals, neurofeedback offers a different kind of support that doesn’t require more talking or thinking.

For some people, bringing these approaches together offers another way to support the work they’re already doing.

Your brain is always learning. Neurofeedback simply gives it more information to learn from.

How Neurofeedback Can Help

Here are some of the reasons people choose neurofeedback:

When you’ve been stressed for a long time, it can start to feel like your baseline. You may feel tense, easily overwhelmed, or like even small things take more energy than they should.

Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time information about its own activity, offering another way to practice responding to stress and finding more ease in everyday life.

If your attention wanders the moment you try to concentrate, it can feel like you’re constantly fighting your own brain. Starting tasks, staying with them, keeping track of details, or following through may take way more effort than it seems like they should.

Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time feedback while you relax, offering another way to support focus and attention without asking you to try harder.

For people who lie awake with a mind that won’t switch off, sleep can start to feel like the one thing you can’t fix. You may be exhausted but still unable to settle, wake throughout the night, or get plenty of hours and still wake up tired.

Neurofeedback offers your brain real-time feedback while you relax, giving your nervous system another opportunity to practice winding down when it’s time to rest.

Some days, your emotions may feel closer to the surface than you’d like. Small frustrations hit harder, it takes longer to recover when something goes wrong, or you find yourself reacting before you’ve had a chance to catch up.

Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time feedback while you relax, offering another way to practice adapting to changes and recovering when life knocks you off balance.

When your brain has been carrying too much for too long, even simple things can start to feel exhausting. You may feel mentally foggy, drained by decisions, easily overwhelmed, or like you’re pushing through the day without much left in the tank.

Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time feedback while you rest, offering a low-effort way to support flexibility and recovery without giving you one more thing to work on.

When your brain always seems to be thinking, planning, replaying, or jumping ahead, slowing down can feel surprisingly hard. Even quiet moments can fill up quickly with thoughts, lists, worries, and mental noise.

Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time feedback while you relax, without asking you to stop your thoughts or clear your mind. It’s simply an opportunity for your brain to notice what it’s doing and practice finding a little more ease.

Life is going to throw things at you. Resilience isn’t about never feeling stressed or overwhelmed. It’s about being able to respond, recover, and find your footing again when things get hard.

Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time feedback while you relax, offering another way to practice adapting to change and bouncing back from everyday stress.

Sometimes getting stuck isn’t about motivation. Your brain may keep circling the same ideas, reaching for the same solutions, or having a hard time shifting when something isn’t working.

Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time feedback while you relax, offering another way to practice flexibility and openness so there’s a little more room for new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities.

You don’t have to be struggling to want your brain working at its best. Whether you’re preparing for a big presentation, competing, creating, leading, or simply managing a demanding life, staying focused and adaptable matters.

Neurofeedback gives your brain real-time feedback while you relax, offering a low-effort way to support focus, flexibility, and your ability to respond when the pressure is on.

Sometimes talking, understanding, and practicing new skills are only part of the picture. You may be doing meaningful work in therapy and still feel like your brain and body are having a hard time catching up.

Neurofeedback offers a different kind of support that doesn’t require more talking, thinking, or homework. Used alongside therapy, it gives your brain real-time feedback while you relax and can complement the work you’re already doing in the therapy room.

What a Neurofeedback Session Looks Like

At Stay Mindful Therapy, we give your brain a comfortable space to do its own work, with no talking, analyzing, or pushing required. Neurofeedback sessions are offered in person at our Sacramento office.

Getting Comfortable

Every session starts with getting settled. Choose a comfortable spot, put on the headphones, and we’ll answer any questions before we begin. There’s nothing to prepare and nothing you need to figure out. Your only job is to relax.

The Sensors

Small sensors are placed on your scalp and ears using conductive paste, which may leave some washable residue in your hair. The sensors don’t send anything into your brain. They simply track changes in your brain’s activity while you relax.

The Music & The Feedback

Throughout the session, you’ll listen to music. When the system notices certain changes in your brain’s activity, the music briefly pauses. That tiny interruption gives your brain information about what it’s doing in the moment, a little like noticing yourself start to lose your balance and naturally adjusting.

The Practice Over Time

We recommend starting with 10 sessions scheduled fairly close together, usually over a couple weeks. This gives you a chance to experience neurofeedback consistently and notice whether anything begins to feel different in your everyday life. After 10 sessions, you can decide whether you’re done or want to continue at a pace that works for you.

Give your brain a different way to learn.

Frequently Asked Questions About Neurofeedback

At Stay Mindful Therapy, we use NeurOptimal®, a gentle, noninvasive neurofeedback system. Unlike systems designed to train specific brainwave patterns toward clinician-set targets, NeurOptimal® provides the brain with information about changes in its own activity in real time. You simply relax and listen to music while the system does the monitoring.

You’ll get comfortable, put on headphones, and have small sensors placed on your scalp and ears. Then you simply listen to music and relax. The sensors monitor brain activity, and brief interruptions in the music provide feedback to your brain. A typical session takes about 30 minutes.

We recommend starting with 10 sessions scheduled fairly close together, usually over a couple weeks. This gives you a chance to experience neurofeedback consistently and notice whether anything begins to feel different in everyday life. After 10 sessions, you can decide whether you’re done or want to continue at a pace that works for you.

These are some of the most common reasons people choose neurofeedback. Experiences vary from person to person, and we can’t predict what any individual will notice. Neurofeedback is offered as a wellness service and is not a treatment for anxiety, ADHD, insomnia, or other diagnosed conditions.

Yes. Neurofeedback can complement therapy without adding more talking, processing, or homework. It may be included as part of your personalized Care Map or used separately from psychotherapy.

No. Neurofeedback is available as a standalone wellness service, so you do not need to be a therapy client at Stay Mindful Therapy to participate.

NeurOptimal® is gentle and noninvasive. The sensors simply monitor brain activity and do not send electricity or stimulation into your brain. The FDA has recognized NeurOptimal® as a general wellness product that presents a low risk to users.

People can respond differently to neurofeedback. After a session, some people notice feeling calmer, clearer, more focused, energized, or especially relaxed. Others may temporarily feel tired, emotional, restless, vivid dreams or simply a little different, and some notice very little right away.

Pay attention to what you notice and let us know. Your experience can help guide the timing and frequency of future sessions.

Yes. “Neurofeedback” describes a broad category, and systems can work quite differently. NeurOptimal® does not use clinician-selected protocols to train your brain toward a predetermined brainwave target. It provides information about changes in brain activity and allows the brain to respond to that information on its own.

Neurofeedback can be used by children, teens, and adults. Because there’s nothing to talk through, figure out, or consciously learn during a session, it can be an approachable option for many different ages and needs. You simply relax, listen to music, and let your brain respond to the feedback.

The Positive Results of Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback gives your brain the support it needs to settle, recover, and feel more like itself again.

With time, you may notice that you or your child has:
A Calmer, Steadier Mind

As your brain practices regulating itself, that constant “on” feeling starts to ease. Stress becomes more manageable, everyday demands stop knocking you over, and calm starts to feel like your baseline again rather than something you’re chasing.

When your mind isn’t pulled in a dozen directions, focus comes more easily. Many clients find it simpler to concentrate, stay organized, and follow through on what they set out to do.

For people whose brains won’t switch off at night, this is often the first change they notice. Sleep tends to come more easily, and mornings start to feel less like a fight.

Hard days don’t disappear, but they shake you a little less. Many clients find they bounce back from setbacks and stressful moments more quickly than they used to.

When your nervous system feels steadier, your reactions soften. Emotions feel less likely to take over, giving you more room to choose how you respond instead of reacting in the moment.

As stress and mental fatigue ease, you get a little more of yourself back. Many clients feel more energy and presence for the people, activities, and goals that matter most to them.

Bit by bit, life feels less like something you’re scrambling to keep up with. Many clients describe feeling more grounded, more settled, and more like an active part of their own days.
